In the Islands of Bali, a day prior to New Year is celebrated as 'Nyepi' which means a day of silence. People stay at home, refrain from physical work, refrain from Speech. Maintain silence. The power and value of speech.

Padi kolam for Thiruvatherai! 
'Thiruvatherai' / Arudra Darasanam which means 'sacred wave' in Tamil. A full Moon night along with Arudra / Thiruvatherai. AnandaTandavam of Lord Shiva is referred as Nataraja. This is a day of Lord Shiva, who symbolises Divine acts such as 'PANCH KRITYAS' : the divine dance of Shiva related to Vibration and patters according to Cosmic plan.
 On this day Rice Kali and Kuzhambu is prepared and offered to Lord Nataraja.
