Freehand Maa Kolam
Freehand Maa Kolam!
Maa Kolam / wet rice flour rangoli is traditionally drawn in South India. It can be drawn in form of Padi Kolam / Freehand Kolam or rangoli. A touch of kaavi is must....as it is believed to be Mangalam / Subham.
Today's I am sharing a simple freehand rangoli with lines, curves and checks....

Padi Kolam - Aadi Special!
Today is Aadi Velli (Friday), I am happy to share my simple Padi Kolam with maa kolam / wet rice flour..... maa kolam is very auspicious to draw during festival's in South India. You can draw Padi Kolam or freehand designs with maa kolam and a touch of kaavi is must.
Maa kolam is prepared.... with rice soaked for atleast / minimum of 1 hr.... and grinded in mixie to form a very smooth paste.... you can add little water while grinding. While putting kolam or rangoli can add little water accordingly.

Freehand Maa Kolam
Freehand Maa Kolam!
Today being an Aadi Chevai (Tuesday), I am sharing a Maa Kolam or wet rice flour kolam or rangoli. This rangoli is drawn with 8 striped to form a circle, then you can create curves, motif or lines, dots to extend your imagination. I have given a touch of kaavi or red colour, which is very important for any maa kolam.
This is very simple rangoli, which can be drawn on Chinna Vasal or small entrance or for an apartment.

Zentangle Kolam
One of the most interesting, art work, is Zentangle. Without any restrictions, you can create, freehand designs with repetitive patterns. I love Kolam and Rangoli, always want to share a simple Kolam, so that begginer's can try.
I have used four circles and semi circles.
With strokes, stripes, checks, etc....

A simple and easy Freehand Kolam I am sharing for this Mathu Pongal. With stripes in white rice flour, border with purple colour. A flower motifs with dots and curves, and decorated it with Diyas.

Nallu Moolai Kolam
A very easy and simple Nallu Moolai Kolam or Freehand Kolam for 'Bogi Pandigai'. Pandigai means festival in Tamil Nadu.
A four day celebration of 'Pongal Pandigai' or festival. Festival starts from 'Bogi' which is the first day...on this day, house are cleaned, 'Mavilai Thoranam' is decorated on the entrance of the house.
Padi or freehand Kolam or rangoli is drawn.
In every Iyer or Iyengar family, Padi or Maa Kolam is drawn, with a bright touch of kaavi, which enhances the beauty.
I am sharing a very easy and simple Nallu Moolai Kolam with a touch of kaavi and in the centre a very simple dots or suzhi kolam,with a touch of kaavi. Decorated my kolam with diyas.

A very simple and easy Padi Kolam for Thiruvatherai.
Thiruvatherai is a Hindu festival, which is celebrated in Tamil Nadu and Kerela. In the month of Margazhi or Dhanur masam, Thiruvatherai Natshataram.... which is popularly known as 'Arudhra Drashanam'. 'Thiruvatherai' means 'a sacred wave', which is created by Lord Siva. It is a women's festival. On this day Thiruvatherai Kali and Ezhi than Kuzhambu / 7 Curry Kootu is prepared and offered to Lord Siva.

Karthigai Deepam is celebrated, all over South India. A beautiful rangoli or traditional kolam is drawn... Diyas or Deepam is decorated in the Kolam or Rangoli.
Karthigai Deepam is also called as "Annamalai Deepam".
