Round Suzhi Kolam

Round Suzhi Kolam
I would like to share this Round Suzhi Kolam for Chithra Pornami. Chitra Pournami means Chitarai is the Tamil month and Pournami means Poornima or full moon day. 

On this day, we have our dinner with family and friends on an open terrace or on our lawn, with bright moon light or  Moon Light Dinner.

A very simple sikku kolam on a Full Moon Day. Just tried keeping in mind a Full Moon Day.

Dots with Diyas decorated, as if a small white moon in the centre.

Sikku Kolam - Margazhi Special

Sikku Kolam
I have used 15-15 dots to draw this Sikku Kolam. Instead of rice flour, I have used rangoli colour's for dots and strokes.
For begginer's, I have shared 9 small Sikku Kolam's so that it will be easier to learn. I have used green, pink and purple colour's to my Sikku Kolam. A border with rice flour.

Rangoli - Margazhi Special!
I am sharing a very easy and simple dots rangoli for begginer's, with 7-1 (straight dots). I have given a brown colour background to my rangoli. Dots in yellow colour and strokes in green colour. A very easy sikku or suzhi kolam we can say....
Decorated my rangoli with Diyas.

A very simple sikku kolam drawn with 12-2 dots. These type of kolams and also called as  Kambi or Pulli kolams. A touch of kaavi and diya in the centre gives extra beauty to my kolam.

A very simple sikku kolam drawn for 'Chinne Vaasal' which means small place in front of your flat or apartment or house.
I have used 5-1 dots and kept one diya or deepam as it is a Karthigai Month.

Sikku Kolam - Karthigai Deepam Special
A very simple sikku kolam for Karthigai Deepam. Even you can draw this Kolam in you apartment in 'Chinne Vaasal' which means small place in front of your house or apartment..
I have used 5-2 dots as the base, then 3-2 straight dots, then again 5-2 dots. To decorate my kolam I used Deepam or Diya.

Pongal Sikku Kolam - Thai Pongal Special

Pongal Sikku Kolam

Makara Shankranti is celebrated throughout India. In South Indian, specialy in Tamil, we call it as 'Thai Pongal', which means Thai is the month and Pongal is celebrated on the first day of this Tamil Month.
     Basically it is a four day festival, mainly it is a harvest festival. On this day houses and decorated with 'Mava Elaine Thoranam', which means mango leaf in decorated in the entrance of the house. A very big kolam is drawn, 'Sakarai ( Sweet ) Pongal is prepared, and offered to Lord Suryan (Sun God).
Today I am sharing a Sikku Kolam with dots, where Pongal Pannai and Karumbu (Sugar cane) is drawn and coloured.

11-3 dots - Middle of the pot.

9-7-5-3 dots - lower portion of  the pot.

9-7-7 dots - Upper portion of the pot.

9-2- 7-1 dots - upper most part of the pot.

5 dots - Pongal pot is draw. 

A very easy sikku Kolam, on the sides just 10 dots with a curve is drawn to form a 'Karumbu'  which means sugarcane. An outline of kaavi is drawn for the pot and purple and green colour's for sugarcane.

Butterfly Sikku Kolam - ( Margazhi Special)
A beautiful Sikku Kolam, drawn in form of butterfly.I am sharing the dots, to draw this butterfly kolam in vertical form.... 9-1 in the middle... 12-14-16-18-3 rows, 9-6-1 in both sides to form butterfly Sikku Kolam. 
Step by step pictures I have shared, hope it will be helpful....for begginer's. 








As an outline I have given violet and pink...and for the antenna of butterfly as orange.
