Rangoli - Skanda Shasti Special!

Tomorrow it is Skanda Shasti (13 the November 2018)) and I am happy to share a dots rangoli. Skanda Shasti is also called as Kanda Shasti. It is the 6th day after Deepavali (Amavasya which falls on Deepavali or the next day). 

On this day Shasti Kavacham is sung by devotes to glorify Lord Murugan or Lord Subramanian. Special poojas and abishekam's to Lord Murugan or Lord Subramaniam are conducted in Murugan Temples.
I am sharing a rangoli with 13-7 dots.

In the above picture you need to keep dots to make a flower shape

Padi Kolam

Padi Kolam
Today I'm sharing a Padi Kolam with wet rice flour. Kolam with wet rice flour is drawn for special functions or Pandigai in South India. Today being 'Purattasi Sani' or first Saturday of Purattasi month. Purattasi is the Tamil month ( mid September - mid October).

Purattasi Saturday Special
This month is very auspicious in vedic calendar. Special Pooja are observed on Saturday's for 'Lord Maha Vishu' or 'Perumal'.

The 'Purattasi Sani' / Saturday are considered Sacrosanct. In this month, specially fasting are observed for Perumal or Lord Balaji.

InTamilnadu, some families do special pooja's such as 'Samaradanai' and chant 'Vishu Saharsanamam'.
