Simple Padi Kolam for this year's last Aadi Velli. Aadi is the Tamil month and velli means  Friday. We draw padi Kolam for Aadi Velli (Friday), this is a simple Padi Kolam with a touch of kaavi / kempu powder.

Simple Sikku Kolam!

Namaste Everyone!
Today is 1st day of Margazhi, and I am happy to share a simple sikku kolam. During Margazhi (mid December - mid January) we draw kolam with colours in front of our house and light diya or lamps. We can draw colour rangoli or kolam, dots kolam, freehand kolam or even padi kolam.

I am sharing a simple sikku kolam with green colour background and decorate it with diyas.

Simple Kolam - Karthikai Deepam Special!

As we all know Karthikai Month starts from (mid November - mid December), we light deepam or diya in front of our house. 

Today I am sharing an easy dots kolam which can be drawn on a chinna vasal or small place even in an apartment. 

We can call this as vasapadi kolam, or it can be drawn on mana palagai or on a wooden plank.

Padi Kolam - Krishna Janmashtami!

We draw Padi Kolam for Janmashtami with Krishnar Padam.

Krishna Jayanti is also called as Janmashtami.
This is a Hindu festival, celebrated all over India..... it is believed that Lord Krishna takes birth on ashtami thithi and Rohini natshatram. People do fasting and prepare sweets and snacks to welcome little Krishna. In temples devotional songs and bajans are conducted.

I am sharing my Padi Kolam with Krishnar Padam.

Pookolam

Pookolam - Onam Special!

Onam is a Indian 'Hindu' festival, celebrated in the State of Kerala.  It is celebrated in the first month of Malayalam Calendar (Chingam Masam).

A ten day celebrations, with Pookolam, onam Sadya, dance, boat race etc....

This festival is mainly celebrated....as a homecoming of King Mahabali. For ten days, they draw Pookolam with fresh and colourful flowers. Designs for Pookolam can be square, round... with freehand...

Today I'm sharing a simple Pookolam in square shape with five colours...and diya or Vellaku in the centre.

Today I am sharing a freehand rangoli with wet rice flour or we call it as 'maa kolam'.

 A very simple design with lotus motif.... with maa kolam we can expand our creativity, with curves, lines, dots etc... A touch of kaavi is must for traditional kolam or rangoli.

Ugadi Special

Ugadi Special!
'Ugadi' or 'Yugadi' which means New Year.
Ugadi is celebrated in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telungana. Specifically in South Indian, but even in North India they call New Year as 'Gudi Padwa'.

Clean their house, decorate their entrance with mango leaves or mavaelai, prepare pachadi using tamarind, jaggery, Neem flower, chillis, salt...
Wear new clothes, they go to temple, do charity and have fantastic feast..
Draw colourful Rangolis, in front of their house.
Today I am sharing a very simple kolam with stipes using white rice flour and decorate my kolam with kaavi.
