Onam is one e of the ancient festival which is celebrated by the entire state of Kerala irrespective of religion, caste and creed. Pookolam is a floral carpet drawn at the entrance.

A harvest festival of Kerala (one of the state in South India). Onam celebration starts from Onam 'Atham' which is the 'Hasta Nakshatra' of Chigam Masam / Month.  Floral design / floral carpet which is decorated in the entrance of the house. 

Onam Pookolam is also considered as a symbol of Secularism.
