Padi Kolam - Karthikai Deepam Special!

Padi Kolam - Karthikai Deepam Special!
Namaste Everyone!
Today I am sharing Maa Kolam or wet rice flour kolam which is traditionally drawn for Karthikai Deepam. One of the important festival celebrated in South India. This year Annamalai Deepam and Sarvalaya Deepam falls on the same day.

Wet Rice Flour Kolam we need to soak raw rice for atleast 1 hr and grind it to a fine paste. We can sprinkle little water and grind so that it becomes a smooth paste. Add little water and with a small cotton cloth dip in the wet rice flour and start drawing your kolam.

Maa Kolam is a traditional kolam drawn for any occasion or festivals like Karthikai Deepam, Deepavali, Pongal etc..
For Karthikai Deepam once the maa Kolam is dried we lamp or light deepam in the kolam.
I hope you all like my Maa Kolam.

Padi Kolam - Navaratri Special!

Padi Kolam - Navaratri Special!
Today being 2nd day of Navaratri ( Oct 2018) I am sharing a simple yellow colour Padi Kolam.

During Navaratri in South India, we keep Golu or Gombe, which means dolls decorated in steps. We need to make steps with wooden plank or now days fibre steps are available.
You can keep steps in odd number such as 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11. In some houses it's a custom to keep 'Kalasam or Kalash' in the first step and other dolls of God's and Goddesses.
We need to draw Rangoli or Kolam with wet rice flour or normal fry rice flour.

We can draw Rangoli with dots or free hand rangoli.
I gendrally follow the colour with the day during Navaratri. Today it's yellow colour, Pooja to Goddess Kowmaari and neivedeyam pulliyogarai.
Hope you all like my kolam.
Pl. do provide your comments.
Thank you!
