Maa Kolam - Ganesha Chaturthi!

Maa Kolam - Vinayaka Chaturthi!

Padi Kolam with wet rice flour is drawn in South India for festivals, special occasions like Ganesha Chaturthi, Janmashtami, Aadi Velli, Thai Velli, Pongal, Diwali, Navaratri, House warming, Poonal Pandigai, Sathabishekam, Sashtithapoorthy etc.

For Wet rice flour, we need to soak raw rice in water for atleast 1 hr. Once it is soaked you need to grind it in Mixie.... remove water then grind...add little water and make a very fine paste. Transfer the paste from Mixie to a small container and add little water to make a thin consistency to draw Rangoli. You need to use very small cotton cloth or muslim cloth dip it in wet rice flour and start putting rangoli. After dipping into the wet rice flour you need to squize with your thumb figure and hold the wet cloth in middle finger and ring finger.
You can draw a freehand rangoli or Padi Kolam or dots rangoli with wet rice flour.
I am sharing a simple Padi Kolam for Vinayaka Chaturthi / Ganesha Chaturthi. One of the importance festival of Hindus is 'Ganesh Chaturthi'.
