Pongal Sikku Kolam - Thai Pongal Special

Pongal Sikku Kolam

Makara Shankranti is celebrated throughout India. In South Indian, specialy in Tamil, we call it as 'Thai Pongal', which means Thai is the month and Pongal is celebrated on the first day of this Tamil Month.
     Basically it is a four day festival, mainly it is a harvest festival. On this day houses and decorated with 'Mava Elaine Thoranam', which means mango leaf in decorated in the entrance of the house. A very big kolam is drawn, 'Sakarai ( Sweet ) Pongal is prepared, and offered to Lord Suryan (Sun God).
Today I am sharing a Sikku Kolam with dots, where Pongal Pannai and Karumbu (Sugar cane) is drawn and coloured.

11-3 dots - Middle of the pot.

9-7-5-3 dots - lower portion of  the pot.

9-7-7 dots - Upper portion of the pot.

9-2- 7-1 dots - upper most part of the pot.

5 dots - Pongal pot is draw. 

A very easy sikku Kolam, on the sides just 10 dots with a curve is drawn to form a 'Karumbu'  which means sugarcane. An outline of kaavi is drawn for the pot and purple and green colour's for sugarcane.
