A Padi Kolam with cradle design to welcome our kutty Krishna. For Janmashtami Krishnar paadam is drawn to welcome Lord Krishna. This year in most of the fb kolam groups it's a trend to draw a dotted cradle for Krishna Janmashtami.  After seeing all those lovely cradle kolams I also wanted to share my version of Cradle Kolam in traditional Padi kolam.

Andal Malai / Aadi Pooram

Andal Malai/ Aadipooram
Good Morning!
Andal Malai Kolam for Aadipooram. 'Andal's birth Star is celebrated as Aadipooram. It is believed that 'Andal' is an incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi.
In TamilNadu in all the Goddess temples, Ambal is decorated with bangles and flowers. It is believed that on this day Goddess Shakti attained her Motherhood. In the evening's special Harathi is done to Shakhi / Ambal and bangles are distributed to all the women.
It is also believed that pregnant women must wear these bangles to protect her child from evil effects. Special prasadan is also distributed to all the devotees.
I'm sharing a simple 'Villaku' kolam which is decorated with Poo malai. This is a task given by Kolam Enthusiasts (Fb group)...to draw an Andal Malai.
